Reynaers Aluminium has supplied the latest generation of its versatile systems to a prestigious project that is set to become the crowning glory of Al Khobar skyline.

Ajdan Rise exudes luxury, comfort and a unique architecture befitting the high performance levels expected of a world-class, state-of-the-art building on the Al Khobar Waterfront. The 130-m tower comprises 187 luxury residential units including penthouses, duplex apartments, and one- and two-bedroom units enveloped with some of Reynaers Aluminium latest systems, says Ali Khalaf, managing director of Reynaers Middle East, the regional office of the Belgium-based Reynaers, a leading European aluminium solutions provider.

“We are aiming to position ourselves as a leading market player in the aluminium systems business in Saudi Arabia and the upcoming Ajdan Rise will be among the many landmark projects undertaken by the Reynaers group across the Middle East,” Khalaf commented.

“Ajdan Rise is a classic example of Reynaers’ unique selling preposition which encompasses the company’s passion to align with the client’s vision. The tower’s design features a protruding angle to ensure that a maximum number of residential units face the sea. This required a custom solution for the façade combining exquisite balcony doors to ensure that a seamless look was achieved on the exteriors,” he added.

The grand façade of the striking Ajdan Rise features one of Reynaers Aluminium’s most in-demand curtain-wall solution as well as its doors, involving a total aluminium surface area of 22,326 sq m.

Reynaers Middle East’s team provided the bespoke solution utilising the CW 50 curtain-wall system, a robust façade system that is said to offer unlimited design freedom with maximum transparency. “Available in several design and glazing variants, the CW 50 is ideally suited to the requirements of the Ajdan Rise project, meeting contemporary architectural needs without compromising on the performance levels of the system, which were extraordinarily high due the altitude and climate conditions surrounding the high-rise tower,” Khalaf explained.

The flexibility and integration offered by Reynaers’ opening types of systems was another feature that helped achieve the desired look of the building, while meeting the high requirements of insulation, stability and safety.

The CP 130-LS sliding systems - available with various opening possibilities - was used for this purpose and its low threshold option offers a solution to improve the building’s accessibility.

“A special solution was used here, making it possible to open up spaces without any fixed corner element, creating a perfect and clear continuity between the indoor and outdoor spaces. The CP 130 allows the construction of large and stable sliding windows and doors with a vent up to 300 kg, making it ideal for rooms with a view,” he says.

Additionally, a customised solution of Reynaers’ latest generation of doors is used for this project, namely the MasterLine 8 for the balcony doors, providing superb air-tightness and thermal performances, Khalaf said.

MasterLine 8 was launched in the Middle East in 2017 and has since been very well received by the market as the need for high performance systems continues to grow in the region.

The Ajdan Rise tower, being developed by AlOula Real Estate Development Company, is among several upcoming components of the Ajdan Waterfront destination at the heart of Al Khobar Corniche. Norr Architects Engineers Planners is the lead consultant for this project.
