Reynaers Aluminium Proudly Contributes to the Belgian Pavilion for the Dubai World Expo

2802

Reynaers Aluminium is Golden partner of the Belgian pavilion at the 2020 Dubai World Expo. With our high-quality aluminium glazing solutions, we help “The Green Arch” pavilion present the heart and soul of Belgium to the world. The Expo runs from 1 October 2021 until 31 March 2022.

Connecting Minds, Creating the Future

The central theme of this year’s World Expo is “Connecting Minds, Creating the Future”. It symbolises Dubai’s commitment to build a better world and shape a more sustainable future through innovative solutions. Mobility, Sustainability, and Opportunity form the main topics within this theme. Enter the Expo and visit one of its 192 pavilions. For the very first time, each country will have its own pavilion bringing an immersive cultural experience for you to enjoy. Located in the Expo’s Mobility district, the Belgian Pavilion communicates the nation’s 2050 mobility vision in detail. Dubbed "The Green Arch", the structure wants to send a message of hope. You will notice a large number of sustainable building strategies featured in the pavilion’s design. This demonstrates how architects and citizens can co-build ecological and inclusive urban communities in complete harmony.

Promoting Belgium with The Green Arch at World Expo

Rising five floors high on a gross floor area of 4,824 square metres, the Belgian pavilion looks like an arched, floral monolith. Visitors experience the Arch’s humble elegance thanks to the Belgian techniques, applications, products, and materials included in the design. From both the interior and the exterior of the structure, warmth in simplicity is key.

Dominique Schaeken, Chief Marketing Officer of Reynaers Aluminium, explains: “We feel honoured to contribute to a remarkable Belgian pavilion that inspires with new technological features. Many visitors already tipped The Green Arch as one of the top ten must-visit pavilions of the Dubai World Expo.” Sustainability is a central message at the World Expo, as it is for the Belgian delegation as well. For example, Belgium’s energy-positive pavilion produces more energy than it consumes. Moreover, the constructors followed circular building principles and used recycled materials only. Even the wooden structure can be dismantled and reused afterwards.

Leveraging our strong local presence in the Middle East

Belgian architects Vincent Callebaut and Assar designed the pavilion, while the constructors of BESIX Group made the plan into a reality. In partnership with BelExpo and BESIX Group, Reynaers Aluminium delivered the structure’s aluminium glass façade profiles. Ali Khalaf, Managing Director of Reynaers Aluminium Middle East, emphasises what it means to his team to contribute to this project: “We are proud to help promote Belgium, the country of our headquarters, here in the Middle East. We have been present in the market for the past 17 years, and this project symbolises the intimate connection of the company with the region.”
